Susan (Ashley) Dalton

April 16, 1953 - June 13, 2012

Susan K. (Ashley) Dalton, age 59 passed away Wednesday evening, June 13, 2012 at the Morgantown Health Care-Inn. She was a resident of Bloomington and former resident of Shelbyville.

Susan was born April 16, 1953 in Columbus to the late Edwin & Francis (Thralls) Ashley. She was a 1971 graduate of Shelbyville High School and received her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University in Bloomington. Susan later earned her Master's Degree in Special Education from Ball State University in Muncie.

She is survived by one son: Ben (wife, Andrea) Dalton of Bloomington and one grandson: Caleb E. Dalton of Bloomington.

Susan dedicated her life to educating & helping young children. She worked for the Shelbyville Central Schools Corporation as a Teacher and Behavioral Specialist for more than 15 years. Susan was also passionate about working with animal rescue groups. She enjoyed reading, watching science fiction movies, and working in her garden.

An informal Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 pm at the Knights of Columbus, 413 E. South Street in Shelbyville

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.

Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Susan to the Alzheimer's Association, 9135 N. Meridian Street Ste. B-4 Indianapolis, IN 46209.

Susan was a wonderful childhood friend. We were in the same class at Addison Township grade school, and I had been to her home many times to play as a child. We were in the same Girl's Scout troop together. I have so many beautiful memories of Susan, and am so saddened to hear of her passing.

I taught with your mother at the Shelbyville schools for 3 years. I have many fond memories of her. She was such a delightful person! She gave me much advice that helped me tremendously.
