Carrie Cathern (Harrison) Lester

Carrie Cathern (Harrison) Lester, age 93 passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Monday evening, April 15, 2024 at her home in Greenwood.

Carrie was born September 26, 1930 in Nolan, West Virginia to her parents, the late John and Mary Harrison. She attended Nolan High School and later married Julius L. Lester on New Year’s Eve. They were blessed with two daughters before his passing in September, 1990.

Carrie was a loving, wife, mother and homemaker who loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed painting ceramics, yard decorations and picture frames. She collected “What-nots” which included ceramic birds, baby porcelain dolls and Santa Clause figurines that she would keep out year round. Carrie rarely sat down, unless the news, Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune was on. She kept herself busy by cleaning her home and by working as a Sales Associate for Meijer and Target in Greenwood.

She will be missed by her daughter, Carrie Mae Lester of Whiteland, grandchildren: Andrew (Lauren) Witt of Carmel, Laura (Jon) Brennan of Coatesville and James (fiancé Christin) Manning of Bloomington, great grandchildren: Tulip, Sunny and Brandon; great-great grandchild, CharlieLou; siblings, Cassel Caudill, Dorothy Jarvis of West Virginia and Naomi Shaw of Bloomington as well as several nieces and nephews and her daughter’s cat that she grew to love, Loki.

Carrie was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Johnny Harrison, Charles “Boe” Harrison, Patsy Loschiavo, and Gene Harrison; and her daughter, LaVerne Manning.

A graveside inurnment will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 22nd at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
