Ruth Mae (Long) Fishel, age 94, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Columbus Regional Hospital. She was a longtime resident of Brown County.
Ruth was born in Monroe County on March 3, 1921, to the late Sherman and Sarah (Kelley) Long. She was a 1939 graduate of Unionville High School and went on to marry David N. Fishel on February 8, 1941, in Nashville. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2008, after 66 devoted years of marriage.
Ruth retired in 1974 as a Group Leader for RCA in Indianapolis after 31 years of service. She was a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Brown County. Ruth was a loving homemaker who enjoyed spending time with family, reading her Bible and cooking. She was a fan of Indiana University Basketball and NASCAR with Jeff Gordon being her favorite driver. Ruth's hobbies included: crocheting, sewing and quilting.
She is survived by her son: David Stanley (Marie) Fishel of Unionville; grandchildren: Stephanie Ann (Robert) Sizemore of Manchester, KY and David Michael (Christie) Fishel of Brown County; nine great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by siblings: Margaret Long, Richard Long and Clarence Long.
The Revs. Ed Renard & Lee Snider will conduct a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Unionville Cemetery.
