Russell D. Wooton, age 82 passed away peacefully at his home in Nashville on Monday, August 11, 2014

He was born in Wooton, KY on June 25, 1932, to his parents, the late Monroe O. and Molly Marie (Melton) Wooton. Russell served as a Corporal for the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Fay (Baker) Wooton on August 26, 1955 in Hamilton, OH. She lovingly survives after 58 years of marriage.

Russell retired in 1994 as the owner and operator of Wooton & Forester Construction Company after 15 years of service. Prior to that, he worked for General Motors Truck and Bus Plant in Indianapolis for 10 years. Russell attended the Cottonwood Christian Church in Brown County and enjoyed the outdoors by fishing, deer & squirrel hunting and working in his vegetable garden. He also enjoyed traveling and was a fan of Purdue University Athletics.

Russell is survived by his wife; children: Carl D. Wooton and Barbara G. Fox both of Nashville, Diana Marie Harder and Katherine F. (John) Dotts both of Nineveh. He will be remembered by his siblings: James Harold Wooton of Greenwood and William "Bill" Wooton of Wooton, KY; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Russell was preceded in death by a son: James R. "Jim" Wooton; siblings: Hazel Jean Estridge, Margaret Earlene Crouch and Otis Wooton; and a son in law: Larry Harder.

The Rev. Darrel Miller will conduct a funeral service on Wednesday at 1:00 Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lanam Ridge Cemetery in Nashville with military rites presented by the Brown County Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Russell to the Brown County Veterans Association, 902 Deer Run Lane, Nashville, IN 47448 or the Cottonwood Christian Church "Memorial Fund" 2523 W. Cottonwood Road, Morgantown, IN 46160.

My prayers and thoughts are with you all. I always loved the visits with Uncle Russell, loved hearing his stories, and really enjoyed the camping and fishing trip with him and daddy at holly bay camp ground. Love you all. RIP Uncle Russell
