Rosemary D. (DeHart) Sanders, age 84 passed away after a 7 year courageous battle with PsP (Progressive Supernuclear Palsy) on Sunday morning, November 17, 2013 at the Franklin United Methodist Community. She was a resident of Bargersville.
Rosemary was born in Clark Township in Johnson County on March 18, 1929 to her parents, the late Herman "Mike" and Teresa (Gallagher) DeHart. She was a 1947 graduate of Trafalgar High School. She retired in 1987 as the Secretary for the Middle School Guidance Department of the Center Grove Community School Corporation. Prior to that, Rosemary worked in the Personnel Department for Eli Lilly & Company for 8 years. She also worked alongside her husband in the family business, Sanders Auction Services, as the Cashier.
Rosemary is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 63 years, Richard A. Sanders, whom she married on September 16, 1950 in Franklin. Together they raised two sons: Larry R. (Cathy) Sanders of Bargersville and Bruce A. Sanders of Greenwood. She was the grandmother of Courtney M. (Jeff) Lasiter of Greenwood, Emily C. Sanders of Las Vegas, NV and Nathan B. (Abbey) Sanders of Greenwood. Rosemary is survived by her siblings: Joseph (Nancy) DeHart of Trafalgar, Herman (Dianne) DeHart of Georgetown, TX and John DeHart of Franklin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Rosemary was preceded in death by one sister: Delores DeHart and three brothers: George, Donald and Russell DeHart.
She attended the Mount Auburn United Methodist Church in Greenwood and a member of the Bargersville Republican Women's Club. Rosemary was a former Republican Vice Precinct Committee Person for several years and was also a past Cub Scout Den Mother. She enjoyed working in her rose gardens.
The Rev. Dr. J. Wesley Hertel will conduct a graveside service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, in Greenwood. Friends may call from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown.
