Richard P Downey

May 29, 1937 - March 25, 2014

Richard P. Downey, age 76, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, March 25, 2014 at the Brown County Health & Living Community in Nashville. He was a lifelong resident of Morgantown.

Richard was born May 29, 1937, in La Porte to the late Joseph A. and Elma F. (Everling) Downey. He was a 1955 graduate of Morgantown High School and was a member of the Morgantown Baptist Church. Richard was a retired emergency room and surgical technician from Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, after 25 years of service.

He is survived by his children: Lesa Douglas, Mark Downey and Patrick (Cheryl) Downey. Richard will be remembered by his sister: Peggy Quillen; and two grandchildren: Alyssa Downey and Shelby Downey.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: William J. "Bill" Downey.

He enjoyed the outdoors by working in his garden and landscaping around his lake. Richard also enjoyed watching wildlife and spending time with his family.

The Rev. Ben Swopes will conduct a graveside service on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Funeral services have been entrusted to Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.

Family of Richard Downey: I was reading on-line while vacationing and saw where Richard passed away. I enjoyed very much working with Richard in the Emergency Room in Franklin.
