Richard Lee Frye, age 87, passed away Tuesday evening, February 17, 2015 at the Brown County Health & Living in Brown County. He was a resident of Columbus and previous resident of Martinsville & Gosport.
Richard was born September 18, 1927, in Gosport, to the late Elmer Fred and Helen Virginia Frye. He went on to serve his country during WWII and the Korean War in the United States Army. Richard married Mabel Voland on November 23, 1996 in Columbus. She preceded him in death on February 17, 2013 after 16 devoted years of marriage.
Richard retired from Indiana University in Bloomington. He was a member of the Martinsville Moose Lodge #1127, the Elk’s Lodge #1349, and the Martinsville V.F.W. Post 1257. Richard enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Mabel; sister: Virginia Chambers; and brother: Clarence Frye. .
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 23 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville. Friends and family may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 22 at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Military graveside rites will be conducted at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville.
