Phyllis M. (King) Whetstine, age 82, passed away Tuesday morning, August 14, 2018 at Homeview Health & Rehabilitation Center in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Brown County.
Phyllis was born November 13, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Howard Lee and Ida Mae (Christopherson) King. She attended school in Columbus and went on to marry Bobby Gene Whetstine on November 19, 1952 in Franklin. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2016 after 63 loving years of marriage.
Phyllis is also preceded in death by sons, Norman “Butch” Whetstine and Brad Alan Whetstine; sister, Alma Sutton; and three grandchildren.
She retired on August 26, 2008 as the manager of the Outpost Western Shop in Trafalgar after 22 years of service. Phyllis was a member of the Nineveh Christian Church and enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
She is survived by her children, Richard L. (Pam) Whetstine of Nineveh and Lu Ann (Tim) Smith of Taylors, South Carolina; siblings, Margeret True of Aurora, Colorado, W.D. (Ann) King of Nineveh, Chris King of Denver, Colorado and Robert (Lena) King of Columbia, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a graveside service on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 1977 S. St. Rd. 135 in Greenwood. Funeral services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
