Mary Emma (Hatchett) Brock

April 24, 1933 - December 19, 2011

Mary Emma (Hatchett) Brock, age 78 passed away Monday morning, December 19, 2011 at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus. She was a resident of Nashville and a life-long resident of Brown County.

Mary was born April 24, 1933 in Brown County to the late George and Dona (Penrose) Hatchett. She married Elmer Sawyer in 1949 in Nashville and he preceded her in death in 1969. Mary later married Donald Brock in 1971 in Bloomington and he preceded her in death in 2006.

Mary retired in 2006 as the owner and operator of Mary Brock's Upholstery and Sewing on Helmsburg Road in Brown County after 33 years of service. Prior to that, she worked as an Administrative Assistant for Sarkes Tarzian in Bloomington from 1959 -1973.

Mary is survived by her daughter Joyce Sawyer & husband, Frank Rogoyski of Nashville, two sons: Albert Sawyer & wife, Sue of Moore Haven, FL & Douglas Brock of Bloomington;six grandchildren, Amy Brock, Aaron Brock, Jacob Matthew Brock, Tereasa Ritter, Joseph & Matthew Zurschmeide; one sister: Ina Cheatham & husband, Jimmy of Indianapolis.

She is preceded in death by threesisters: Myrtle Sams & two infants: Pauline & Dorothy Hatchett; seven brothers: Wilmer, Clarence, Orville, Millard, James,Albert & infant: JohnHatchett.

Mary will be remembered by her family and friends for her good sense of humor. She was a gifted seamstress and she earned great respect for her craft. She loved dogs and was actively involved with adopting animals from the Brown County Humane Society. She enjoyed wintering in Florida, watching butterflies and feeding the hummingbirds.

The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service on Friday at 1:00 PM at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center located at 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Little Union Chapel Cemetery.

Joyce, so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. I hadn't seen her in many years. The image I have of her is that she was so pretty and had beautiful blonde hair. God bless you and your family.
