Mary Agnes (Konechnik) Zupancic, age 90, passed away peacefully Monday morning, October 14, 2013 at Grandview Convalescent Center in Martinsville. She was a resident of Morgantown.
Mary was born March 25, 1923, in Brown County to the late Frank and Mary (Gregor) Konechnik. She married John Frank Zupancic on March 2, 1946 in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2008 after 62 loving years of marriage.
Mary was a 1941 graduate of Helmsburg High School. Mary was a member of of St. Martin's of Tours Catholic Church in Martinsville where she participated in the Altar Society & the Golden Circle; and a member of the Jackson Township Farm Bureau of Morgan County.
Mary enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, sewing & reading.
Mary is survived by four sons: John F. (Marie) Zupancic,III, Charles E. (Suzanne) Zupancic & George A. (Shirley) Zupancic, all of Morgantown & Harry A. (Vicki) Zupancic of Bargersville; two daughters: Helen F. (John) Smith & Anna M. Zupancic, both of Morgantown; one son-in-law: Bill Witt, of Morgantown; one sister: Margaret Ford of Greenwood; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by one daughter: Monica Witt; six sisters: Mary K. Konechnik; Anna Lekse, Sophia Lekse, Emma Stevens, Pauline Loviscek & Helen Flajs; and four brothers: Frank & Joseph, Louis & Anthony Konechnik.
Fathers Mark Gottemoeller & John Hall will conduct a funeral mass at 10 am Wednesday at St. Martin's of Tours Catholic Church, 1720 E. Harrison St., Martinsville. Burial will be at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church Cemetery in Martinsville.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center located at 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. A Rosary Service will take place at 7pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
