Lloyd Kenneth Stogdill, age 91 passed away Friday afternoon, December 26, 2014 at the Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Freetown.
Kenneth was born February 21, 1923 in Bedford to his parents, the late Otto and Beulah (Wotton) Stogdill. He served two tours of duty with the United States Army during World War II; first, with the Battery C 125th Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion and then with the Company H 18th Infantry 1st Division during the Battle of the Bulge.
After the war,Kenneth married Ruth (Erringer) Stogdill in Muncie and she preceded him in death in 1978. He retired in 1984 from the Grounds Keeping Department of Indiana University in Bloomington after 32 years of service. Kenneth enjoyed Indiana University Basketball and Western movies.
He is survived by his siblings: Betty (Everett) Reynolds of Greenfield, Lu Ella Stogdill of Bloomington, Joe Stogdill of Greenwood, Sam Stogdill of Franklin and Sarah (Donald) Mullins of Bloomington; caregiver and niece: Teresa Richardson; and several nieces and nephews.
Lloyd was preceded in death by nine siblings: Thelma Strunk, Norma Nash, Mary Long, Robert, Walter, Warren, William, David, James "Bud" Stogdill.
The Rev. Mark Powell will conduct a funeral service on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow with full military rites at the Houston Cemetery in Jackson County.
