Jimmy Ray Fox

February 20, 1949 - December 15, 2013

Jimmy Ray Fox, age 64 passed away Sunday evening on December 15, 2013 at the Indiana University Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a life-long resident of Brown County.

Jimmy was born in Indianapolis on February 20, 1949. He was a 1967 graduate of Brown County High School and enjoyed working at the McDonald's IGA in Bean Blossom as a teenager. He went on to serve at a Buck Sergeant with the United States Army from 1967 to 1971. Jimmy married Margie R. (Walters) Fox on July 15, 1995 in Brown County. She lovingly survives.

Jimmy retired in 2002 as a Dock Worker from USF Holland Trucking in Indianapolis after 30 years of service. After retirement, he worked in the Maintenance Department of the Department of Natural Resources at the Brown County State Park in Nashville and was the manager of the Fruitdale Market for the past 3 years.

Jimmy is survived by his wife; mother: Maxine H. (Weaver) Fox and his father: James W. (Ireta) Fox both of Brown county; three sons: Wade Fox of Bloomfield, J.B. (Suzann) Fox of Franklin & Tyler Fox of Brown County. He will be remembered by his siblings: Steve (Brenda) Fox of Ellettesville, Brenda (Kenny) Mullis of Unionville, Debbie (Ray) Guffey, Cheryl Ann Unger, Gary Fox, Gregory Fox, Thomas (Benita) Fox, Dennis Fox and Joseph "Joe" (Georgia) Fox all of Brown County, step siblings: April (Joe) Carter of Columbus, Wanda (Shannon) Nash of Kentucky, Karen (Bill) Brooks of Colorado, Debbie (Dennis) Sanders, Robin Whitaker, Richard (Bessie) Sumpter, Jeff (Natilie) Sumpter, Brian Sumpter and Colleen (Bobby) Slevin all of Brown County; three grandchildren: Tiara, Nicolas & McKinzee Fox and one granddaughter on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Whiteland and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Alexandra, KY. He enjoyed the outdoors by fishing, mushroom hunting and working the BBQ Grill at family gatherings. He was known for his sense of humor and coconut pies and pumpkin rolls. Jimmy was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and playing euchre.

The Rev. Darrel Miller will conduct a funeral service on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Goshen Cemetery in Brown County with military rites presented by the Brown County Honor Guard.
