Alma "Maxine" (Curry) Sparks, age 91 passed away Sunday afternoon, April 21, 2013 at the Homeview Health & Rehabilitation Center in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of San Jose, CA.
She was born in Indianapolis on February 12, 1922 to her parents, the late John and Lillie (Walton) Curry. Maxine graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. She married Lee Sparks.
Maxine retired in 1991 as a Supervisor for F.W. Woolworth Department Store in San Jose, CA after 25 years of service. Prior to that, she worked for Eli Lilly & Company as a capsule sorter and as a sales clerk at JC Penny's at the Eastgate Shopping Center, both of Indianapolis during the 1950's.
Maxine is survived by one daughter: Jacqueline (James) Ripberger of Nashville; one son: Richard Eugene Harrison of Sacramento, CA. She will be remembered by her two grandchildren: Joyce (Randy) Taggart of Nashville & James Alan (Ginger) Ripberger of Brown County; four great-grandchildren: Shaun (Danielle) Taggart, Ashley (Justin) Rork, Kayleigh & Kyler Ripberger; one great-great grandson: Jaden Taggart; and one nephew: Robert (Irene) Nolte of Beech Grove.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband: Lee Sparks in 1991; two sisters: Violet Goodlin & Margaret Horton; and two brothers: Harold & Ralph Curry.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In keeping with Maxine's wishes, she will be cremated with no funeral services. Cremation services have been entrusted to Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
