William “Scott” Derringer, age 37, passed away Monday, September 5, 2016 at his home in Brown County.
Scott was born on January 8, 1979, in Franklin to William Rex Derringer and Terri (Smith) Brown. He was a 1997 graduate of Columbus North High School and later married his sweetheart of 14 years, Mechelle McCorkle on January 14, 2013 in Trafalgar.
Scott worked as a cook for Brownies Restaurant in Brown County. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be remembered for his artistic ability. Scott will be dearly missed by his wife, Mechelle, son William Tiler Derringer of Kentucky, mother Terri (Mitchell Bentley) Brown of Brown County, grandfather James “Jim” Smith of Spearsville, brothers Josh (Rae) Derringer and Cody Brown both of Brown County and sister Lacey Brown of Columbus; step-sisters Jennifer Patterson and Brandy (Chad) Yornboth of Indiana,Aunts & Uncles: Bill & Ruth Fox of Brown County, Margie Underwood of Bloomington, Mike & Becky Smith of Bean Blossom and Gary & Mirari Smith of Spearsville as well as six nieces and nephews.
Scott was preceded in death by his father William Rex and his grandparents: Verlis Derringer, Marjorie Derringer and Betty Jo Smith.
The Pastor John Hrynk will conduct a funeral service at Noon on Friday, September 9th at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Scott to help defray burial expenses to P.O. Box 308 Morgantown, IN 46160.
