Walter W. 'Butch' Eck, age 65 passed away Sunday evening, April 15, 2012 at the Brown County Health & Living Community in Nashville. He was a resident of Nashville and former resident of Indianapolis.
Butch was born March 5, 1947 in Indianapolis to the late Frank & Bessie (Thomas) Eck. He married his loving wife of 20 years, Deborah J. O'Connor on June 14, 1991 in Brown County. She survives.
Also surviving are his children: Frances Eck & Becky Eck both of Avon and Robert (Tina) Eck of Bloomington; stepchildren: David (Shannon) Cooney of Nashville and Karen Litzelman of Indianapolis. Butch was the loving grandpa to five grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren. He will be remembered by his siblings: Margaret (Larry) Fox of Nashville, Frances (Chuck) Eck Cavendar of Indianapolis and Harry (Charity) Eck of Nashville.
Butch was preceded in death by his infant son: Walter W. Eck Jr.
He retired in 1996 from the Department of Public Works for the City of Indianapolis, after 31 years of service. Butch was a past member of the Nashville Masonic Lodge #135 and the Shrine. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and spending time with his late dog 'Lilly.' He was a fan of NASCAR and boxing. Butch's true passion was his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He was known for his quick wit and storytelling.
A funeral service will be held at 7 pm on Wednesday at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 5 pm until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. The Nashville Masonic Lodge #135 will also conduct a Masonic Service at 7 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
