Vera Juanita (Inman) Schoolcraft, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, April 8, 2015 at the Homeview Health & Rehabilitation Center in Franklin. She was a resident of Morgantown and former resident of Brown County.
Juanita was born in Ash, NC on July 4, 1932 to her parents, the late Dosher L. and Alice F. (King) Inman. She was a graduate of Waccamaw High School in Ash, NC and went on to retire as a cook from Helmsburg Elementary School in Brown County after 30 years of service.
Juanita was a member of the Morgantown General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing and collecting antiques. Juanita will be remembered for her love of cooking and her delicious homemade yeast rolls. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Juanita is survived by her husband, John R. Schoolcraft, whom she married on February 19, 2000 in Hawaii. She is also survived by her children: Gary (Lynan) Zimmerman of St. Louis, MO and Jeannie (Jerry) King of Ash, NC; step children: George W. (Cindy) Schoolcraft of Greenwood, Roger Lee Schoolcraft of Nineveh, Steven Dean Schoolcraft of Morgantown and Larry Wayne Schoolcraft of Jacksonville, FL. Juanita will be remembered by her sister: Nellie Hardee of Calabash, NC; grandchildren: Jennifer (Russell) Oliver of Cape Girardeau, MO, Bryan Sink of St. Louis, MO, Coley King of Ash, NC and Kyla King of Nashville, TN; and great grandchildren: Emma, Jackson and Chloe Oliver.
She was preceded in death by her first husband: Basil L. Zimmerman, whom she married on February 26, 1955 in Brown County. He preceded her in death on February 4, 1982. Juanita is also preceded in death by four brothers: Roscoe, Landon, Harrell and Marion Inman.
Bro. Mike Day will conduct a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
