Raymond M. Richardson, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, July 4, 2015 at his home in Morgantown.
He was born September 5, 1931, in Shelby County, to the late John W. and Elise Dorothy (Matz) Richardson. Raymond was a 1949 graduate of Center Grove High School and went on to serve as an Airman First Class with the 27th Field Maintenance Squadron of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He married Barbara Jean Demaree on January 16, 1951 in Aberdeen, MD. She survives after 64 loving years of marriage. Raymond went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Business from Franklin College in 1958.
He retired in 1993 as a Licensed Insurance Agent for Farm Bureau in Franklin after 22 years of service. Raymond was a member of the Christian Chapel Church in Johnson County, where he served as a Deacon and the Treasurer. He enjoyed working in his flower and vegetable gardens, mowing his yard and spending time with his family. Raymond was a fan of Indiana University Basketball and the Indianapolis Colts.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children: Julie K. (Daniel) Rasmussen of Indianapolis, Mike (Ann) Richardson of Morgantown and Rob (Jennifer) Richardson of Brown County. Raymond is also survived by his grandchildren: Kari (Chad) Smith of Freetown, Holly (Jon) Sanders of Brown County, Niki Rasmussen of Edinburgh, Hans Tyler Rasmussen of Greenwood, Austin Rasmussen & Jason Richardson both of Indianapolis, Sara Richardson of Franklin and Ezra Scully of Brown County; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Robert R. "Bob" Richardson, Murval Richardson and Ruth Stayton.
The Rev. Dr. Daniel Rasmussen & Rev. Stan Icenogle will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bluff Creek Cemetery in Bargersville with military rites presented by the Martinsville American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guards.
