Nila Jo (Woods) Lasiter

September 19, 1933 - February 10, 2015

Nila Jo (Woods) Lasiter, age 81, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, February 10, 2015 at the Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Trafalgar.

Nila was born at home in Mahalasville on September 19, 1933 to her parents, the late William P. and Murphy Della (Long) Woods. She was a 1951 graduate of Morgantown High School. Nila married William L. "Bill" Lasiter on January 20, 1951 at her parents' home in Mahalasville. He lovingly survives after 64 devoted years of marriage.

Nila retired in 1988 as an administrative assistance from Farm Bureau Insurance in Indianapolis after 29 years of service. Prior to that, she worked for the Red Gold Canning Factory in Trafalgar for five years.

Nila is survived by her husband Bill, children, Jenny (husband, Bruce) Earlywine and Dennis (wife, Lisa) Lasiter both of Trafalgar. She will be remembered by her sister: Mildred (Jerry) Blackburn of Bloomington, grandchildren: Michelle (Ron) Twaddell of Avon, Michael (Dawn) Earlywine of Indianapolis, Alicia Parrott of Franklin, Daniel (Audrey) Lasiter of Trafalgar and Jacob (Judy) Lasiter of Franklin; great grandchildren: Stefan, Jordan, Savannah, Sophie, Allison, Alia, Brett, Charlotte, Bryce and Corrin.

Nila is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings: Elizabeth Platt, Martha Woods, Bill and Bobby Woods and an infant sister.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Morgantown. Nila enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and was known for her vegetable and flower gardens. She, and her husband Bill, enjoyed wintering in Florida and visiting the Great Smokey Mountains, in the fall, for over 32 years. Nila loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service on Saturday at noon at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.

Dear Family, My first thought is I have lost my childhood playmate. Nila Jo and I shared many adventures and memories of growing up "Woods".
