May 13, 1941 - February 28, 2017

Nancy S. (Matlock) Sichting, age 75, passed away Tuesday evening, February 28, 2017 while wintering in Venice, Florida. She was resident of Franklin and a former longtime resident of Trafalgar.

Nancy was born May 13, 1941, in Trafalgar, to her parents, the late Clarence E. and Gertrude (Shank) Matlock. She was a 1959 graduate of Trafalgar High School and went on to marry, Ronald “Joe” Sichting on June 14, 1959 at the Morgantown United Methodist Church.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Joe; children, Mark (Amy) Sichting of Morgantown, Stan (Pam) Sichting of Columbus, Mike (Vicki) Sichting and Stacy (Rick) Parmer both of Franklin; brother, John (Sarah) Matlock of Trafalgar; grandchildren, Eric (Amber) Sichting, Amber (T.J.) Reguli, Kevin (Michelle) Sichting, Brad (Brooke) Sichting, Brandon Sichting, Chris Overfelt, Sean Sichting, Joe Sichting, Trevor Sichting, Shelby, Tara and R.J. Parmer all of Franklin; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Nancy was born at the family homestead in Trafalgar and returned as an adult to raise her family in the same home that has now been in the family for 10 generations.

She retired in 1999 as the secretary to the Superintendent of Nineveh-Hensley-Jackson School Corporation after 30 years of service. Nancy was proud to have served as the secretary to all the principals of the Nineveh-Hensley-Jackson School Corporation during her 30 year tenure at the school prior to her retirement.

Nancy was a very active member of several community organizations, such as the Morgantown United Methodist Church since 1959, former member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church in Trafalgar, Associate Member of Bay Indies Covenant Church in Venice, FL, Morgantown Eastern Star, past member & past Matron of Trafalgar Eastern Star, past member and Advisor of Rainbows, and a fifty year member of the Morgantown Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority, where she also served 5 terms as President.

She was an avid reader and an amateur photographer who enjoyed taking many photos of her family, especially while on vacation. Nancy’s creative spirit has allowed many to enjoy photo albums she created and pictures she painted on fabric. Nancy enjoyed cultivating friendships in her neighborhood and also in her winter home in Venice, Florida. She and her husband were strong supporters of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities, often traveling hundreds of miles to watch them compete in various sports and 4-H projects. Nancy was a strong supporter and coordinator of many school field trips, her favorite one being to Apple Works in Trafalgar. One of her fabric creations was presented to Apple Works as an appreciation for opening their business to the school children that she loved.
