Mrs. Opal Rosaline "Rosie" Hubbs

September 10, 1933 - February 2, 2018

Opal Rosaline “Rosie” (Lowhorn) Hubbs, age 84, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, February 2, 2018 at the Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community. She was a longtime resident of Trafalgar.

Rosie was born September 10, 1933, in Clay County, Tennessee, to her parents, the late Samuel and Melvina (Long) Lowhorn.  She retired in 1993 as a cook for Indian Creek Schools after 24 years of service.

Rosie was a member of the Spearsville Road Church of Christ and a former member of the Morgantown Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and working word puzzles. Rosie loved spending time with her family and will be remembered for her cooking and baking, especially her persimmon cookies and swiss steak. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states together.

Rosie is survived by her children, Bill (Janine) Hubbs of Joplin, Missouri, Phillip (Ellen) Hubbs of Shelbyville, Jill (Gene) Kemp of Trafalgar and Joy (George) Smith of Nineveh; 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles W. “Bill” Hubbs, whom she married on February 23, 1952 in Lafayette, Tennessee. Rosie is also preceded by siblings, Judy Taylor, Lizzie Daniel, Christine Tally, Eula Rayborn, Lura Rayborn, Stanley, Willie, Cordell and Johnny Lowhorn.

The Rev. Ed Rangel will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown.  Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.

Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Rosie to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 East 91st Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
