Mrs. Minnie L. Duke

Minnie L. (Smith) Duke, age 75, passed away Monday afternoon, September 10, 2018 at the Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community. She was a resident of Trafalgar.

She was born May 1, 1943 in Ashland, Kentucky to her parents, the late George and Minnie (Ritchie) Smith. She attended school in Ashland, Kentucky and graduated in 1961.

Minnie retired in 2010 as a Bookkeeper for Indiana Heat Treat in Indianapolis after 40 years of service. She also helped manage and keep the books for the family farm alongside her husband, John.

Minnie was known for her baking and cooking, especially her chicken and biscuits. She enjoyed canning, tending to her garden, watching western movies and reading mysteries and romance novels. Minnie loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Duke, whom she married on June 16, 1967 in Indianapolis. Minnie is also survived by her children, Johnny L. Duke of Trafalgar and Richard W. (Melissa) Duke of Morgantown; sister, Eva Clark of Ashland, KY; granddaughters, Ashley Duke of Franklin and Michelle Duke of Bargersville; great granddaughter, Chelsie Long of Franklin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.

A private family Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.

I loved my aunt Minnie. She would me goodies when the boys brought the crop to the elevator. I miss them good ole days picking on my cousins Richard and Johnny. Love and respect to you all
