She married Lennis A. “Lennie” Baughman on October 11, 1942. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2008 after 65 devoted years of marriage. Judy was also preceded in death by a son, Greg Baughman; and siblings, Leoma Henry, Elsie Davis, Betty Martin, Ruth Willis, Warner Gregory, Bishop Gregory, James Gregory and Harold Gregory.

Judy is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Jim (Jennifer) Baughman of Jackson, Wyoming; granddaughter, Heather Patterson of Wilmington, North Carolina; granddaughter by choice, Allison Shoemaker of Morgantown; loving friends and caregivers, Barbara Dennis of Trafalgar, Georgia Snider and Judy Dickey both of Nashville; and her cats, Molly and Becky.

She retired in 1988 as a manager/bookkeeper for Waycross Episcopal Camp & Conference Center in Brown County after 26 years of service. Judy, along with her husband, were founding members of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Brown County. Other memberships include the Brown County Garden Club and the Thirsty Thursday Club of Morgantown.

Judy was very artistic and enjoyed acrylic painting. The only art show she competed in, was a show in Nashville where she entered two paintings among many other great talents. Judy received a second and third place award for her achievement. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to St. Joseph Island in Canada where they met up with friends, Hector, Mary and Charlie Nelson to go fishing. Judy also enjoyed traveling to St. Pete Beach, Florida where they visited with friends every November for many years.

Family and friends were Judy’s true passion and delight. She and her husband loved to host and entertain friends at their home, where they made everyone feel welcome. Judy will be remembered for her beautiful smile, perseverance and a great sense of humor. She will also be remembered for her cooking and baking. Every holiday, especially Christmas, friends looked forward to her famous Rum Cake and breads.

Jim, I am so sad to read Aunt Judy's passing. She was always so caring, thoughtful, and creative. She had such a beautiful smile. I remember family reunions at Way Cross and then several at Aunt Judy's and Uncle Lennie's home with the pond. I'm am sorry for your loss.

Dear Jim, Jennifer and family, Judy was a wonderful friend to us when we lived in Bean Blossom, always so gracious when we would visit, always so kind to send greetings, expressed in beautiful cards of her own making. We still have a painting of hers, a parting gift when we left Indiana in retirement. We know how very hard the two of you worked to help her through Lennie's death and her own illness, and how much she appreciated your care. Peace be with you and yours, Jonathan & Deborah Hutchison

Jim and Jennifer, I am so sorry for your loss. Judy was a gracious and talented lady. I think about her when I look at my two beautiful pots that she painted and feel very fortunate to have them.
