Michael “Mike” George Slevin, age 66 of Morgantown, passed away Friday January 12, 2018 in Illinois whilst being his hard working self. He was born in Franklin, Indiana on April 3, 1951 to Mary (Forney) Slevin and Luster “Buzz” Slevin.

Mike is survived by his children: Tammy Slevin-Smith of Morgantown, Michael “Moe” Gary Slevin of Punta Gorda, FL, mother: Mary Slevin of Franklin, grandchild: Claudia “Michelle” Woodall of Columbus. Michael was also blessed with his great-grandchildren: Braelynne and Jace Hupp. He will also be missed by his siblings: Tom Slevin of Franklin, Ann Slevin of Hartford City, Judy (Larry) Summer of Bargersville, Karen Slevin of Franklin, Bobby (Colleen) Slevin of Brown County, John Slevin of Franklin and Paul Slevin of Franklin and several nieces and nephews. Mike was employed at Whitaker Chevrolet for 45 years and upon retirement, continued to fix vehicles for the community. Mike wasn’t one for idle hands however, and came out of retirement to drive for Beelman Trucking of Indianapolis until his passing.

I remember Mike forever smiling. Just talking to him sometimes helped me put life into a better perspective. I considered him a good friend. He always had a joke to share & some that maybe he shouldn't have but it was all in fun! Thanks for all those years being part of Whitaker's and taking the best care of my car.

My thoughts and prayers are with those that loved Mike. He was a loving, caring man with a huge heart and a great laugh. We talked daily, many times a day. We talked about everything. We never missed a day in over 6 years. We were there for each other through everything. We were best friends and his passing has left a hole in my heart. I feel blessed to have had Mike in my life and I will miss him greatly....
