Eddie R. Burkhart, age 70, passed away Friday evening, August 3, 2018 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was a resident of Peoga.
Eddie was born September 28, 1947 in Corbin, Kentucky to his parents, Rev. Frank and Marie (Roberts) Burkhart Jr. He retired in 1997 as a Welder for AM General in Indianapolis after 29 years of service.
He was a member of the Locust Grove Pentecostal Church in Trafalgar, UAW Local 555 of Indianapolis and the Hoosier Bass Organization. Eddie enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in his vegetable garden. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Eddie is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Sandra L. (Woodard) Burkhart, whom he married on August 13, 1966 in Indianapolis. He is also survived by his mother, Marie Burkhart of Peoga, children, Connie (Mark) Doyle of Mooresville, Paul David Burkhart of Morgantown and Donna (Bradley) Fisher of Nineveh; siblings, Oscar H. (Emily) Burkhart of Monroe, Georgia, Linda S. Johnson and Vickie L. (Jay) Griffie both of Trafalgar; grandchildren, Andrea (Ben) Childs of Mooresville, Nathan Harless of Indianapolis, Chris Burkhart of Morgantown, Danielle and Brandon Fisher both of Nineveh, Amelia and Abby Doyle both of Mooresville and Kemper Burkhart of Morgantown; and great grandchildren, Olivia Renee Burkhart of Clayton and Kennedy Raelyn Childs of Mooresville.
Eddie was preceded in death by his father.
The Bro. Jay Griffie will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Locust Grove Pentecostal Church, 3522 Peoga Road in Trafalgar. Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.

Eddie I will remember you as one of my greatest cousins. My heart aches for your family. You were a great man. I will miss you but i am glad you are out the horrible pain you were in. RIP my dear cousin.

My heart is heavy knowing that a great man passed away and went to heaven, Eddie was an amazing man! I've always enjoyed or talks and also he's yummy biscuits and gravy!! He will be greatly missed by so many. Fly high Eddie and I know he'll be watching over he's family that he loved so very much!
