Mary Joan Perisho

October 17, 1923 - June 14, 2013

Mary Joan Perisho, age 89 passed away peacefully on Friday morning, June 14, 2013 at the Brown County Health & Living Community in Nashville. She was a long-time resident of Nashville. By her side, was her best friend and companion for the past 53 years, Merle Draper of Nashville.

Joan was born in Carmel on October 17, 1923 to her parents, the late Leland Morris and Julie Marie (Owen) Perisho. She was a 1941 graduate of Arcadia High School and went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree from the School of Business at Indiana University in Bloomington and her Master's Degree in Education, also from Indiana University.

She retired in 1982 as an Assistant Professor at Indiana University after 38 years of teaching. Joan was a member of the Indiana University Alumni Association and a long-time season ticket holder for the IU Men's Basketball Team. She enjoyed going out to eat and visiting with friends. She was a fan of music and the theater. Joan also enjoyed bird watching, mushroom hunting and reading.

She was preceded in death by her only sibling, Charles O. Perisho on December 3, 2007.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.

Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Joan to the Brown County Health & Living Community "Activities Fund", 55 W. Willow St. Nashville, IN 47448.

MERYL YOU HAVE TO KNOW SHE IS NO LONGER HURTING.THE TWO OF YOU WERE LIKE SECOND MOTHERS TO MICHAEL AND LIKE I SAID HE WAS WAITING FOR HER.
