Marion E. "M.E." Walker, age 81 passed away peacefully on Thursday morning October 3, 2013 at his residence in Flat Rock. By his side was his loving & devoted wife of 29 years, Vivian L. (Riley) Walker, whom he married on September 14, 1984 in Blytheville, AR.
M.E. was born on October 11, 1931 at home in Brown County on Haggard Road to his parents, the late Carl Marion and Opal Marie (Haggard) Walker. He was a 1950 graduate of the Morgantown High School and went on to serve as an Airman First Class with the 407th Air Refueling Squadron of the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He also was a graduate of the Aircraft & Engine School of the United States Air Force. M.E. was proud to be a Veteran and to have been a Service Technician for the B-29 Bomber Airplane's during the Conflict.
M.E. retired in 1975 as a Service & Sales Representative for the Chevrolet Motor Division after 22 years of service. He also was a retired farmer, farming in southern Johnson County for over 29 years. M.E. attended the Old Union United Church of Christ in Edinburgh and was a lifetime member of the Shelbyville VFW Post 2695. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling with his wife in their camper trailer and horseback riding. M.E. was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana University Men's Basketball and NASCAR.
He is survived by his wife; children: Michael E. (Kellie) Bowers of Indianapolis, Melessa E. Walker of Ft. Wayne, Jeffery Michael Deiwert of Flat Rock & Richard (Dawn) Deiwert Jr. of Hope; siblings: Donald L. Walker of Hudson, FL, Judith C. Miller of Whiteland & Curtis G. Walker of Trafalgar. M.E. will be remembered by his five grandchildren: Rick & Matt Deiwert, Kristal Baker, Jessica & Dana Bowers; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The Rev. J. Kirby Rupp will conduct a funeral service on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown.
Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown with Military Graveside Rites.
