Margaret M. (Smyth) Brown, age 92 passed away Tuesday morning, August 21, 2012 at the Morgantown Health Care-Inn in Morgantown. She was a life-long resident of Morgantown.
Margaret was born October 7, 1919 in Morgantown to the late Frank H. & Christina (Loutt) Smyth. She married Ralph L. Brown on November 6, 1937 in Morgan County. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1958. Margaret was a 1937 graduate of the Morgantown High School.
She was a loving mother & homemaker and worked as a cook at many local restaurants in Morgantown including: Green Hill Drive Inn and the Silver Stallion. Margaret also worked as a cook for the Indiana University men's fraternity: Delta Tau Delta in Bloomington during the 1970's.
She was a member of the Morgantown United Methodist Church and enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing bingo and watching soap operas. Margaret loved cooking for and spending time with her family.
Margaret is survived by her daughter: Janet K. (husband, Gary) Wilkerson of Brown County; five grandchildren: Stephanie Warthan of Bloomington, Mike Brown of Edinburgh, Scott (wife, Michelle) Brown of Columbus, Debbie (husband, Mark) Sipes of Elizabethtown & Faith Brown of Georgia. She will be remembered by her seven great grandchildren: Casey & Hunter Warthan, David & Jeff Sipes, Brandon, McKenzie & Samantha Brown; two great-great grandchildren: Emily Sipes & Devin Brown.
Margaret was preceded in death by a son: Stephen Brown; one sister: Catherine Brown and one infant brother: Robert Smyth.
Family friend, Delbert Dunning will conduct a graveside service11:00 am Thursday at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
