Lettie Sallee

Lettie (Davidson) Sallee, age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, November 7, 2017 at her home in Brown County.

She was born November 25, 1932, in Manchester, Kentucky to her parents, the late Farris and Sally (Sizemore) Davidson. Lettie attended a one room schoolhouse in the Hensley Settlement of Kentucky, which is part of the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. Lettie was also an in-home health care provider for many years.

She married Sherman L. Sallee on April 15, 1963 in Manchester, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on October 26, 2005 after 42 loving years of marriage.

Lettie is survived by 3 daughters: Donna Stevens of Strader, IL, Sharon Lynn (Dean) Shephard of Brown County and Francine (Bruce) Smothers of New Palenstine; 6 sons: Johnny Sallee of Phoenix, AZ, Paul Sallee of South Dakota, Farris “Bugg” (Janice) Sallee of Trafalgar, Jerry “Spud” Spurlock of Indianapolis, John (Diane) Spurlock of Flat Rock and Kenny “Bubba” (Theresa) Spurlock of Morgantown; siblings, Nellie (Hank) Spinks of Hamilton, OH, Don (Peggy) Davidson and Carl Davidson both of Indianapolis, and Larry (Theresa) Davidson of New Palenstine; 23 grandchildren and several great grandchildren & great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Jean Adams, Pauline Cope, Nancy Madden and Johnnie Davidson.

Lettie was a member of the Friendship Church in Morgantown where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was known for delicious homemade pies and cookies, spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. Lettie enjoyed tending to her yard and garden, shopping and was a collector of clocks.

The Rev. Hughes Mac Smith will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
