Leroy Moore Obituary

Leroy Moore, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, June 2, 2014 at his home in Bean Blossom. He was a lifelong resident of Brown County.

Leroy was born October 28, 1930 and raised in Gnaw Bone until he moved to Bean Blossom at the age of 31. He saw many changes throughout his life and remembered always walking to school, never had ridden in a school bus. Leroy was ambitious and enjoyed working with his hands and on the farm. He purchased his own semi-truck and drove more miles than he could count throughout the years. While Leroy loved visiting nearly every state, his favorite place to be has always been Bean Blossom.

Leroy was the son of the late Roy and Marie (Beauchamp) Moore. He went on to marry, Margaret "Peggy" L. (Kanter) Moore on December 29, 1952 in Brown County. Peggy preceded him in death on April 19, 2004 after 51 devoted years of marriage.

Leroy, along with his wife, was the owner and operator of Moore's Wrecker Service in Bean Blossom for more than 18 years. Leroy lived by the way he thought, "Work hard and always help your neighbors." Leroy is most remembered for driving his dump truck all over Brown County, delivering stone, gravel, asphalt, sand and helping locals with his wrecker. When he wasn't working, he relaxed by bush hogging, mushroom hunting and working in his vegetable garden. Leroy enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving children: Robin (Steve) Ann Johnson of Marion, Kathy Lee Moore of Broomfield, CO, Mark David Moore & John Andrew (Wanda) Moore, both of Brown County. He will be remembered by his two sisters: Loulla Pearl "Dude" Moore of Brown County & Donna Petro of Columbus; six grandchildren: Dr. Kelly E. (Michael) Klinker of Ft. Wayne, David Sisson of Brown County, Jennifer Strong of Broomfield, CO, April J. Knorr & Charles Knorr, both of Nashville and Dillon Kirchhofer of California; and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; one daughter: Shalom "Sam" Angela Moore; three sisters: Marietta Henderson, Betty Graham & Geraldine Ping; one brother: Billie Moore; and his brother-in-law: Jr. Graham.

The Rev. Fred Harrison will conduct a funeral service on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and one hour prior to service time on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Weeping Willow Cemetery in Bean Blossom.
