John J Kocher

John J. Kocher, age 64, passed away Thursday evening, March 27, 2014 at his home in Brown County.

John was born August 7, 1949, in Indianapolis, to the late Mark C. and Barbara G. (Bechert) Kocher. John was a 1967 graduate of Center Grove High School and went on to serve his country as a Private with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. John married Cheryl Larson on January 10, 1976 in Franklin. She preceded him in death on August 25, 2011 after 35 devoted years of marriage. John has been employed for the last 35 years with Allison Transmission in Indianapolis as a Tin Smith.

John was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Nashville, Greenwood Masonic Lodge # 514 & United Auto Workers Local 933 in Indianapolis. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to Florida for deep sea fishing and hunting. John was a loyal fan of Notre Dame football and basketball.

John is survived by two sons: Chadwick K. Kocher & Christian J. Kocher, both of Bloomington; one sister: Phyllis Wagner of Greenwood; one brother: Mark Kocher of Camby; and two grandchildren: Tevin K. Roberts of Williams & Dylan Kocher of Bedford.

John is preceded in death by his parents and wife.

John's wishes were to be cremated with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at a later date for family and friends. Cremation services have been entrusted to Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.

So very sorry to hear of John's passing . He was my late husband, Bob Bechert's nephew . I only met John once and that was at a family reunion at his Uncle George's home about 17 years ago . I still have family picture from that time ! I can only offer you my deepest sympathy and say prayers for your family ! I know deep in my heart that John is at rest now and probably with his Uncle Bob ! May God Bless you all !
