Jeanette E. (Wilson) Elkins, age 79, passed away Tuesday morning, April 19, 2016 at her home in Indianapolis. She was a former resident of Morgantown and Brown County.
Jeanette was born in Indianapolis on October 5, 1936, to her parents; the late Harry E. and Betty L. (Moore) Wilson. She was a loving homemaker and worked as a unit ticket girl for Stokley’s in Indianapolis during the 1970’s. Prior to that, she worked for Frito Lay in Indianapolis as a packer.
Jeanette was a former member of the Way of the Holiness Church in Brown County and the Community Bible Church in Trafalgar. She was an avid reader of the Bible and Karen Kingsbury novels. Jeanette enjoyed spending time with her family, working puzzles and being on Facebook. She also enjoyed feeding the birds and cheering on the Indianapolis Colts.
Jeanette is survived by her children, Karen S. (Richard) Thorpe of Indianapolis, Mark A. (Betty) Kerner of Indianapolis, Leslie S. (Daniel) Vessey of Indianapolis and Scott A. (Wendy) Elkins of Franklin; sister, Joyce A. (Malcom) Goolsby of Celina, Tenn.; sister in law, Margaret Wilson of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell E. Elkins on November 18, 2008. They were married on August 12, 1990 in Brown County.
The Rev. Wayne Baker will conduct a funeral service on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Acton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Jeanette to the Cancer Care Center of Johnson Memorial Hospital, 1125 W. Jefferson St., Franklin, IN 46131.
