James "Jim" V Richart

April 5, 1926 - September 1, 2013

James "Jim" V. Richart, age 87 passed away peacefully Sunday morning, September 1, 2013 at the Grandview Health & Rehabilitation Center in Martinsville. He was a resident of Bloomington and a former resident of Brown County.

Jim was born April 5, 1926 in Seymour to the late Joseph and Josephine (Thames) Richart. He married Jeanette (Southern) Richart on February 3, 1980 at the West Side Assembly Of God Church in Bloomington. She survives after 33 loving years of marriage.

Jim was a 1944 graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Rensselaer and attended Butler University. He went on to serve as a Radioman Third Class with the United States Navy during World War II. Jim retired in 1979 from Indiana Bell Telephone Company where he worked as a Technician for more than 10 years. Prior to that, he retired in 1969 from the Indiana State Police Post in Connersville as the Communications Director after 20 years of service.

Jim was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church in Bloomington and a former member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Nashville. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Ducks Unlimited, Wildlife Turkey Hunter's Federation, National Muzzle Loaders Association and the Brown County Historical and Genealogy Societies. Jim enjoyed flying his plane and received his Instrument Rating Certification at the age of 60.

Jim was preceded in death by two sisters: Virginia Weaver & May Richart and one brother: Joseph L. Richart.

Father John Hall will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1008 McLary Road in Nashville. Burial will be at Deckard Cemetery in Nashville with Military Rites presented by the Brown County Honor Guard. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
