James E. “Jim” Staten, age 70, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, November 13, 2016 at his home in Freetown.
He was born in Indianapolis on December 19, 1945, to his parents, the late Joseph and Delores Marie (Piper) Staten. He served as a Specialist Fifth Class with Company B 1st Battalion 16th Infantry of the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Jim was employed as a Body Man at Al’s Body Shop in Nashville for the past year. Prior to that, he held the same positon at Poynter’s Body Shop in Columbus for 5 years. Jim enjoyed collecting guns and foreign automobiles. He was a fan of the History Channel and was an avid reader of science fiction books. Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Elizabeth “Gail” (Beasley) Staten. Jim is also survived by his children, John (Brenda) Shore of Seymour and Jessica Pfeiffer of Medora; sister Anita Fry of Indianapolis; and grandchildren, Kierra and Charlie Pfeiffer
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Dobbs Cemetery in Brown County. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
