James E. "Jim" Cullen, age 78 passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, September 4, 2014 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Morgantown.
Jim was born on December 31, 1935 in Marion County to his parents, the late Henry T. "Tat" and Helen B. (Branam) Cullen. He married Marilyn S. McCarty on November 26, 1971 in Owensville. She lovingly survives after 42 devoted years of marriage.
Jim was a 1953 graduate of Helmsburg High School and went on to serve as a Company Clerk with the rank of Specialist 4 with the 611th Ordinance Company at Fort Bliss, with the United States Army. Jim attended the Reppert School of Auctioneering in Indianapolis and became a licensed auctioneer in 1968. He has been the owner and operator of Cullen Auction House in Morgantown and Fruitdale. Jim, along with his wife, were the owners of Cullen Antiques & Things store in Morgantown. They also owned other antique shops in the Morgantown area for several years and owned Cullen Custom Upholstery in Indianapolis and Morgantown from the 1960's to 2004. Jim also held a booth space for over thirty years at the Bargersville Flea Market.
Jim will be dearly missed by his wife: Marilyn; daughter: Jesica M. Cullen-Emerson and her husband, Quentin of Owensville, IN; sister: Becky H. Raasch of Whiteland; brother: Virgil G. and his wife, Jan Cullen of Indianapolis: and granddaughter: EllaGrace Emerson of Owensville, IN.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents and sister: Carolyn Safford.
The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 8th at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday and an hour prior to service time on Monday.
