Iva M. (Powell) Smith, age 72 passed away Tuesday morning, August 20, 2013 at her home in Mooresville. She was a former resident of Brown County.
Iva was born in Hodgesville, AL on November 15, 1940 to her parents, the late Shelley and Gearldyne (Elmore) Powell. She married Forrest M. Smith on July 25, 1990 in Danville, IN. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2007 after 17 loving years of marriage.
Iva is survived by two daughters: Bobbie (Rex) Ivy of Mooresville & Victoria (Larry) Sherrill of Brown County; three sons: Steven (Brenda) Kirschbaum of Franklin, Ronald Kirschbaum & Jacob D. Smith, both of Mooresville. She will be remembered by her siblings: Nina Icenogle & Debbie Mullins both of Dothan, AL & Jimmy Lanier of Mooresville; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Iva was preceded in death by a son: Kirt Kirschbaum.
She was a homemaker and was retired from the sewing department of General Motors in Indianapolis. Iva enjoyed working crossword & word search puzzles, canning and sewing.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Thursday. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Memory Hill Cemetery in Dothan, AL.
