Helen Mae (Stephanus) Ballard

Helen Mae (Stephanus) Ballard age 78 passed away Sunday afternoon, November 25, 2012 at the Morgantown Health Care-Inn. She was a resident of Morgantown.

Helen was born in Madison on January 1, 1934 to the late William & Ruby (Kidwell) Stephanus. She married Harry Ballard in October 30, 1956 in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on June 11, 1990.

She is survived by her two sons: Thomas M. Ballard of Greenwood & David L. Ballard Sr. of Morgantown. She will be remembered by five grandchildren: Cindy Wilborn & David Ballard Jr. both of Morgantown, Rachel Ballard & Sarah Baker both of Greenwood & Uriah Ballard of Knightstown; and several great grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by one son: Paul Fredrick and two granddaughters: Lori Ballard and Dana Lee Ballard.

She retired in 1996 as an assembly worker for Harmon Becker Automotive in Martinsville after 16 years of service. Prior to that, she held the same position at RCA in Indianapolis. Helen enjoyed working in her yard, watching & feeding the birds and cooking for her family. She cherished movie night and going to the park with her grandchildren. Helen collected books and ceramic music angels.

The Rev. Ben Swopes will conduct a funeral service at 1:00 pm, Thursday at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 am until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.

Helen was my cousin but she was more like a big sister. She was one of my favorite people.I'm so sorry to hear of her passing.I love her and will miss her greatly. R.I.P. Helen.
