Helen Elizabeth (Zook) Harmon, age 72 passed away Monday afternoon, October 13th 2014, at the Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus. She was a resident of Nashville.
Helen was born February 17, 1942 in Morgantown to the late Roy and Mary (Black) Zook. She was a 1960 graduate of Helmsburg High School and went on to earn a degree in nursing in 1975 from Ivy Tech Community College in Columbus. Helen's life career as a Licensed Practical Nurse lasted more than 35 years, caring for people in nursing homes throughout the Franklin and Indianapolis areas. She had also been employed as a Housekeeper with the Abe Martin Lodge in Nashville since 2008.
Helen was a nature lover and enjoyed feeding the birds and raccoons in her backyard. She also enjoyed reading mystery novels, knitting and hand painting crafts. Helen's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren play athletics. She loved to spend the holidays with her family and enjoyed watching the grandchildren unwrap their Christmas presents.
Helen is survived by two sons: Michael Wayne (Mary) Sanders of Hope & Robert Allen (Sybel) Sanders of Spearsville; one sister: Patsy Fowler of Mooresville; seven grandchildren: Domonic, Andrew, Deanna, Joanna, William, Robert & Amanda; three step grandchildren:Kenny, Teddy & Carolyn; and one great-grandchild.
Helen was preceded in death by one son: William Dale Grieve; and one brother: Morris E. Zook.
The Rev. Sim Brock will conduct a funeral service on Thursday, October 16th at 2:00 p.m. at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 12 noon Thursday until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
