Harriet A (Lenard) Jaskiewicz

Harriet A. (Lenard) Jaskiewicz, age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, April 4, 2015 at the Manor Care Nursing Home in Avon. She was a resident of Mooresville and a former resident of the Chicago, IL area.

Harriet was born in Chicago on February 5, 1923, to her parents, the late Ignacy and Caroline (Grabowski) Lenardof Little Poland Restaurant on Milwaukee Avenue and Lenard’s Casino in Beverly Shores.

She was a 1941 graduate of the Resurrection High School in Chicago. Harriet married John Jaskiewicz on April 18, 1942 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1960.

She was a loving homemaker and worked as a directress of the Country School and the Montessori School from 1965 to 1975 in Michigan City. After teaching, Harriet worked as a Nanny for ten years. She was a member of the Upper Room Church of God in Mooresville and was an avid reader of religious books, with Derek Prince being her favorite author. Harriet enjoyed weaving, knitting, working in her flower and vegetable gardens and polish folk dancing.

She is survived by her children: Mary Ann Novatny of Virginia Beach, VA, Sabina M. (Robert) Jones of Mooresville, John C. Jaskiewicz of Michigan City and Anthony I. (Sharon) Jaskiewicz of Klamath Falls, OR. Harriet will be remembered by her brother: Edmund Lenard of Chicago;eight grandchildren,five great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

She was preceded in death by three siblings: Helen Pieklo, Ted Lenard and Lt. Col. Casimer Lenard.

The Rev. Ron Wagner will conduct a Celebration of Harriet’s Life at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11that the Upper Room Church of God, 450 St. Clair Street in Mooresville. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the Church.

Pastor Lorne Hodum will also conducta Celebration of Life Serviceat 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 19th at the Lakeview Christian Center: 1704 County Line Road, in Michigan City, Indiana. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until service time on Sunday at the Church.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.?
