July 22, 1952 - May 2, 2016

Gary L. Satter, age 63, passed away all too soon on Monday morning, May 2, 2016 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was a resident of Brown County.

Gary was born July 22, 1952, in Franklin, to the late William L. and Freida F. (McLary) Satter. He was a 1969 graduate of Indian Creek High School. Gary retired in 2015 from NTN Driveshaft in Columbus. Prior to that, he worked as a supervisor for Kawneer in Franklin for 30 years.

Gary was a 40 year member of the Mt. Zion Separate Baptist Church in Morgantown and enjoyed fishing. He also enjoyed cheering on his children and grandchildren at their sporting events. Gary loved his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda D. (Kennett) Satter, whom he married on August 11, 1973. Gary will be missed by his children, James Lee (Michelle) Satter and Rev. Matthew Wayne (Kelly) Satter both of Brown County and Mark A. Satter of Carmel; siblings, Tony Satter of California and Sherrie Budd of Greenwood; grandchildren, Kaylee, Kendra, Mattie, Marqi, Merci and William Satter and Tony Cromer; and great grandson Abel Cromer.

He was preceded in death by a son: Michael Travis Satter; siblings, Joseph A. “Joe” Satter and Donna Parsons.

The Rev. Matt Satter will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Morgantown.

Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Gary to the Mt. Zion Separate Baptist Church “Memorial Fund”, 560 Anel Drive Martinsville, IN 46151.

Condolences to the whole family. I was sad to hear this news. Gary and I were friends throughout our school years and were basketball teammates as well. We had many adventures as kids. I will miss him.
