Gary A. Lancaster, age 60 passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013 at his home in Trafalgar. He was a life-long resident of Trafalgar. Gary was known for his generosity and kind hearted personality to all those who knew him.
He was born in Franklin on July 23, 1952 to the late Herbert C. & Nell (Parker) Lancaster. Gary was a 1970 graduate of Indian Creek High School where he participated in basketball, baseball, Future Farmers of America and student council. He also was a member of the Johnson County 4-H Club. Gary went on to attend Purdue University making the Deans Lists his first semester. He retired in 1997 as the owner and operator of Lancaster Farms in Trafalgar after 26 years of farming. Prior to that, he was the owner of the Honda Motorcycle Dealership in Lafayette.
Gary enjoyed collecting model trains and antique toys. He also enjoyed collecting antique tractors, collectable cars and motorcycles. Gary loved attending the local fairs, farm progress shows and traveling to historical places. He was a fan of Elvis and was an avid reader. Gary's greatest pleasure came from spending time with his companion's son, Brady. Brady was very special to Gary with not having children of his own.
Gary leaves behind his longtime friend & companion: Stephanie M. Bennett and her son, Brady Mills both of Flagler Beach, FL. He will be remembered by his cousins: Ivan, John & Jerry (Tresa) Lancaster all of Trafalgar, Teresa (Ed) Waltz of Trafalgar, Ed (Teresa) Lancaster of Trafalgar, Susan (Lee) Weddle of Morgantown, Sereta (Tom) Churchill of CA, Larry Parker of Melbourne, FL, Norman Bennett of Tucson, AZ, June Caple of Miami, FL and Charlotte Jacobs of Milledgeville, GA. He will also be remembered by his aunts: Alta "Sally" Lancaster & Betty Lancaster, both of Trafalgar and Mildred Parker of St. Petersburg, FL.
The Rev. Mark Matheny will conduct a Celebration of Gary's Life on Sunday at 4 pm at the Trafalgar Christian Church, 300 W. Pearl Street in Trafalgar. Friends may call from 2 pm until service time on Sunday at the church. Funeral services have been entrusted to Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
