Fay Wooton Obituary

Fay (Baker) Wooton, age 83, passed away Wednesday morning, October 5, 2016 at her residence in Nashville. She was born on July 10, 1933, in Clay County, Kentucky to the late, Carl and Charity (Holland) Baker. Fay married Russell D. Wooton on August 26, 1955 in Hamilton, Ohio. He preceded her in death August 11, 2014 after 58 devoted years of marriage. She is survived by her loving children, Carl D. Wooton and Barbara G. Fox both of Nashville, Diana Marie Harder and Katherine F. (John) Dotts, both of Nineveh; daughter in law, Gwenn Wooton of Brown County; siblings, Rebecca Peace, Donald Baker and Bill Baker all of Kentucky, Sarah Peace, Mabel Bushand, Mary Sowder and Boyce Baker all of Ohio; 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Fay was preceded in death by her husband a son, James R. “Jim” Wooton; son in law, Larry Harder; great granddaughter, Seraphina F. Carron; and siblings, Althea Meadows, Sally Huff and an infant sister, Rose Baker. She retired in 1998 from the Food Service Dept. at the Bloomington Hospital after 10 years of service. Prior to that, Fay worked as a cook at the Helmsburg Elementary School in Helmsburg for 10 years. She attended the Cottonwood Christian Church in Brown County, where she helped with the Good News Club at Helmsburg Elementary School. She was a 50 year member of the Midway Separate Baptist Church in Brown County. Fay enjoyed participating in cooking classes, fishing and traveling. She also enjoyed reading, working in her vegetable and flower gardens and was a fan of Purdue University Men’s Basketball. The Rev. Darrel Miller will conduct a funeral service on Friday at 1 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lanam Ridge Cemetery in Brown County.
