Ethel Irene (Robinette) Waltz, age 79, passed away after a strong and courageous battle with Alzheimer's for over 14 years on Friday, August 21, 2015 at the Aspen Trace Health & Living Community in Greenwood. By her side, was her loving family and devoted husband Dale. Irene was a resident of Trafalgar.
She was born in Clinchco, VA on April 2, 1936 to her parents, the late Henry and Ada (Fullen) Robinette. Irene was a 1955 graduate of Trafalgar High School and went on to marry Claude Dale Waltz on June 30, 1956 in Trafalgar. Together they raised their three children: Karen Sue Waltz (deceased), Joe (wife, Kim) Waltz of Trafalgar and Bev Watkins of Greenwood. Irene is also survived by siblings: Fay Moore of Plainfield and Gene (Pat) Robinette of Clayton; grandchildren: Jenny (Josh) Matthews, Rachel Praire, Nick (Erin) Watkins, Ashley (Brad) Sisson, Amanda (fiancé, Anthony) Waltz, Angie (Justin Bowling) Watkins and Jake (fiancée, Stephanie) Waltz; great grandchildren: Becca, Taylor, Trinity, Tadeum, Braedyn, Gavin, Emma, Lincoln and Maverick; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by siblings: Thelma Holderfield, Bill, Ed, Carl and Gerald Robinette.
Irene retired in 2002 as a bookkeeper from Indiana Jewelers in Indianapolis. Prior to that, she was known as the "Donut Lady" working at the Frosty Queen restaurant in Trafalgar from 1975 to 1980. Irene also worked as a bookkeeper for Indian Oxygen in Indianapolis from 1955 – 1974.
She was a 50 year member of the Samaria Christian Church, where she was also a Sunday School Teacher. Irene enjoyed traveling with her husband on many Bus Tours, going out to eat and socializing with her friends and family and was a fan of Indian Creek Athletics. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially the fall with the leaves and flowers. Irene loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
The Rev. Stan Icenogle will conduct a funeral service 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Samaria Christian Church, 4779 W. St. Rd. 135 in Trafalgar. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
