Easley "Penny" I. Burnette

Easley I. “Penny” (Presley – Johnson) Burnette, age 75, passed away Wednesday morning, January 11, 2017 at The Waters of Martinsville. She was a resident of Morgantown.

Penny was born on November 9, 1941, in Vonore, Tennessee, to the late Oley Williams and Louise Presley. She was a 1961 graduate of Zionsville High School and went on to retire as an assembly worker from RCA in Indianapolis after 35 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Donald E. Burnette, whom she married on October 27, 1977 in Indianapolis. Penny was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Johnson.

Penny is survived by her son, Nathan A. Burnette of Morgantown; grandchildren, Makayla Joann Burnette and Martha Irene Burnette both of Bloomington; siblings, Deborah Applegate of  Morgantown and Michael Johnson of New Whiteland; nephew, David Smithers of Michigan City.

She was an avid reader, antique collector and a fan of the television show, House. Penny was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.   Burial will be at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville.

Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Penny to Riley Children’s Hospital, 30 South Meridian Street, Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
