Donna E. McCandless

Donna E. (Brown) McCandless, age 74, passed away Saturday evening, July 29, 2017 at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington. She was a resident of Brown County.

Donna was born on September 24, 1942 in Tallahassee, Florida to the late Charles and Pauline Brown. She married Samuel P. McCandless on July 25, 1959 in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on April 27, 2008 after 48 years of marriage. 

She is survived by her children, Tamara McCandless of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Rebecca Roberts of Columbus; siblings, Paula (Baron) Hansen of Carmel and Charles (Karen) Brown of Carmel; grandchildren, Jennifer Harter-Merriman of Columbus and Brandon Roberts of Texas.

Donna retired in 2005 as a licensed insurance agent, working in the Nashville area. She was a former member of the Brown County Garden Club. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, collecting antiques and reading. Donna loved spending time with her family and her cat, “Kitty.”

In keeping with Donna’s wishes, she will be cremated. Her family will have a private Celebration of Life Service at a later date. Cremation services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Center Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.

Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Donna to the Brown County Humane Society, PO Box 746, Nashville, IN 47448.

We are so very sorry for your loss. Donna was always a sweetheart. When she would call the office and Christy wasn't there, we would talk mostly about flowers, until I had to scurry back to my work.
