Dennis R. Pope, age 65, passed away peacefully in the company of his family on Sunday afternoon, November 1, 2015 at his home in Morgantown.
He was born in Indianapolis on April 8, 1950, to the late Eugene L. and Mary L. (Clark) Pope. Dennis was a 1968 graduate of Mooresville High School and married Lucinda M. "Cindy" (White) Pope on June 6, 1969 in Indianapolis. She lovingly survives after 46 years of marriage.
He is also survived by a sister, Linda (husband, Charlie) Franklin of Mooresville; sister-in-law's, Nancy (husband, Stan) White & Peggy (husband, Rick) Butler both of Morgantown, Jenny (husband, Carrol) Finch of Rogers, AR and LaDonna (husband, Jay) Lyons of Midwest, OK. Dennis will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews who will miss him very much.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Dean and Timothy Lane Pope.
Dennis was a lifelong business man and founded United Consulting Associates in 1990, the company he was CEO of when he passed away. He was known throughout the industries that he had worked in as a man who could accomplish any of the projects that he was presented with. During his career, he had completed projects for the Sears Tower, Houston Space Center, United States Department of Energy and thousands of others.
Dennis carried a lifelong love of horses and shared that love with countless friends and family. He was fond of saying that "There was something about the outside of a horse that was good for the inside of a man." Dennis was an insatiable reader and a student of early American History.
His favorite pastime was spending time with the family that he loved and he greatly enjoyed bringing everyone together for cook-outs at his farm. Dennis molded his farm to become a playground and sanctuary for his loved ones.
Bro. Stan White will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 9th at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call 1 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8th at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
