Denise Payton Obituary

Denise (Fisher) Payton, age 50, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday afternoon, March 8, 2016 after a courageous yearlong battle with cancer. She was a resident of Trafalgar.

Denise was born in DeWitt, Arkansas on March 7, 1966 to her parents, Glendel and Sarah (Herrmann) Fisher. She married Kip D. Payton on September 18, 1982 in DeWitt. He survives after 33 years of devoted marriage. Although never blessed with children of her own, she was adored by her nieces and nephews, and through the years, has been claimed by many other children as “Aunt Neese” although not related.

Denise was a loving wife, homemaker and had many gifts and talents which she willingly shared in helping others. While she was an outstanding hostess and an amazing cook, her greatest gift was in making everyone feel special. Denise enjoyed the outdoors by working in her yard and flower gardens. She will be remembered for her beautiful cake decorating and home interior decorating. Denise was an active 35 year member of the Morgantown General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. She had a great love for the Lord Jesus, who she committed her life to and put her complete trust in.

She is survived by her husband, Kip; mother, Sarah Fisher of DeWitt; siblings, Diane Fisher, WyGonda Fisher both of DeWitt, AR, LaRonda (Wesley) Hamm of Lexington, OK; Vance (Teresa) Fisher of DeWitt, AR, and Maleta (Dewayne) Schmidt of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.

Denise was preceded in death by her father, Glendel Fisher and a brother, Dorland Fisher.

Bro’s. Stan White and Landis Thompson will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.

Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Denise to the Morgantown General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn “Memorial Fund” 229 East Street, Morgantown, IN 46160.
