David Zimmerman Obituary

David Zimmerman, age 70, passed away Tuesday evening, June 17, 2014 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was a resident of Trafalgar.

David was born August 13, 1943 in Brown County to the late Denzil Leroy Zimmerman and Jessie (Rund) Zimmerman. He married Linda Kay (Baker) Zimmerman on August 1, 1975 in Edinburgh. She survives after 39 loving years.

David proudly served as a Specialist E-4 in the 6th Battalion of the 71st Artillery Division United States Army during the Vietnam War.

David retired in 1998 after working for 47 years as a Carpenter. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #1775 in Columbus and also a member of the Carpenters & Jointers Union #301 in Indianapolis.

David was the owner & operator of Dave Zimmerman Trucking Company and also served on the Johnson County Sheriff's Department Horse Patrol and as a Reserve Deputy for 15 years, retiring in 2002.

David enjoyed restoring classic cars, playing his guitar & singing music with his family. He sang with the Gospel Tones for several years. David was a member, Music Director and past Trustee of the Sycamore Bible Church in Trafalgar.

David will be missed by his devoted wife, Linda; sons: Russell (Kellie) Zimmerman of Indianapolis, Bobby (Stacy) Hogue & Jason (Terri) Zimmerman, both of Trafalgar and Clayton (Sarah) Zimmerman of Morgantown; one sister: Jody Ogden of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister: Marilynn Adams.

The Rev. Ervin Stutzman will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sycamore Bible Church, 699 East Park St. in Trafalgar. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the church on Friday and one hour prior to the service time at the church. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery in Brown County with Military graveside rites presented by the Brown County Honor Guard.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
