David L. Derringer, age 69, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, June 12, 2012 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was a resident of Brown County.
David was born December 20, 1942 in Brown County to the late Art Derringer and Lillian (Walker) Derringer. David married Diana F. (Woody) Derringer on September 20, 1995 in Carroll County, KY. She lovingly survives.
David is survived by three daughters: Michelle (Donnie) Bruton & Kim (Shawn) Phillips, both of Brown County, & Kelly Derringer of IN; one son: Travis (Mindy) McCloud of Indianapolis; two brothers: Dan Derringer of FL & Alan; ten grandchildren & 1 great grandchild.
David served as a Boatswain's Mate in the United States Navy from 1960-1964 and then served in the Naval Reserve from 1964-1967.
David retired from Olin Brass Company in Indianapolis in the late 1980's where he worked as a Machinery Repairman. He was a member of the Nashville Masonic Lodge #135, Murat Shrine, Indianapolis & a member of Sprunica Christian Church of which he was a long time Trustee.
David was a Flint Napper, and gave many demonstrations of arrowhead making. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and four-wheeler & also enjoyed watching boxing. David loved spending time with his family and being on his farm. Family & friends will miss David's wit & keen sense of humor.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 1 to 3 pmon Friday at the funeral home. The Nashville Masonic Lodge #135 will conduct a Masonic service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sprunica Cemetery in Brown County with military rites presented by the Brown County Honor Guard.
