Bill J. Adams, age 78 passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2014 at the IU Health Morgan Hospital in Martinsville. He was a resident of Morgantown and a former resident of Indianapolis.
Bill was born and raised in Crofton, KY on April 19, 1936 to his parents, the late Jesse and Gertrude (Moore) Adams. He married Carolyn S. (Carrico) Adams on November 23, 1955 in Indianapolis. She lovingly survives after 58 years of marriage.
Bill retired in 1994 as a Dock Supervisor and Dispatcher with Roadway Express in Indianapolis after 25 years of service. He was a former member of the Teamsters Union Local 135 and a former Volunteer Fireman and Assistant Chief for the Bunker Hill Fire Department in Indianapolis. After retirement, he servedon the Morgantown Planning and Zoning Commission, Morgantown Town Board and the Morgantown Senior Center Board, where he was an active member as well. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed wintering in Labelle, FL with his wife.
He is survived by his wife; children: Mark Adams of Bargersville, Tonya (Jack) Jones of Trafalgar and Donna (Jerry) Schmidt of Shoals. He will be remembered by his brother: Jim Adams of Ocala, FL; daughter in law: Cindy J. Adams of Edinburgh; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by a son: Michael Adams on July 10, 2012.
The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
