Betty F. (Holcomb) Dulaney, age 80, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, May 6, 2016 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin.
Betty was born in Big Stone Gap, Virginia on July 22, 1935, to her parents, the late Jim and Martha (Street) Holcomb. She was a 1954 graduate of Dryden High School in Dryden, VA and went on to marry Carson R. Dulaney on July 18, 1955 in Gate City, VA. He lovingly survives after 60 devoted years of marriage.
Betty was a loving mother and homemaker who worked as a Nurses Aid during the 1970’s at the Johnson County Hospital in Franklin. She was a 50 year member of the Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin. Betty will be remembered for the love she shared and the spoiling of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known for her great cooking and baking, especially her biscuits & gravy. Betty enjoyed going to Wal-Mart, working in her flower and vegetable gardens and mowing.
She is survived by her husband, Carson; grandchildren, Stasha Deem, Amanda, Aaren and Jerad Dulaney; great grandchildren, Karson, Hollie, Amira and Saood; siblings, Thurman and Jim Holcomb, Loretta Hicks, Shelby Little, Helen Roberts, Teresa Greer and Nina Clark.
Betty was preceded in death by her only child, Jerry L. Dulaney, whom she cherished and loved dearly. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Edith Rothon and Ricky Holcomb.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from noon until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Second Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin.
